Welcome Fairfield Marlins/YMCA Baseball Teams
Everyone loves baseball and the YMCA is no different. Although summer seems far off, these 29 dedicated ball players
will be working hard all winter: conditioning, training, hitting, pitching all in preparation for their first game
in June. You have to admire the dedication of these young men.
Both teams are travel summer teams that will be playing locally, representing your YMCA, summer of 2012.

It's that time again – time to lose weight and get in shape. This year the Great Weight Race will be returning
to the more traditional format of individual competitors.
Participants should register by Thursday, January 5th . Everyone should arrive at 8:00 AM on Saturday, January 7th
for the first official weigh-in and program information. The race will run January 7th through March 31.
Once the race is on, we will be here every Saturday at 9:15 for your weigh-in followed by a great workout at 9:30 to
get your day started.
The rules are simple. The top two male and top two female "losers", WIN IT ALL.
WINNERS AND PRIZES
The top male and female winners (largest percentage of weight loss) will be awarded a FREE ADULT MEMBERSHIP FOR 1 YEAR ($690.00 value). As well as a gift card and YMCA t-shirt.

The YMCA fitness department is excited to again offer Yoga 4 Health/Chair Yoga. This class allows
individuals with tightness, balance problems, stiffness or other "special needs" to be able to practice
yoga with security, confidence and safety. Using the chair as a prop provides encouragement, may

Yogalates is a combination of both Yoga and Pilates. This class is a little
more user friendly and less "structured" as full Pilates. Yoga poses are
weaved through standard Pilates poses allowing the class more freedom

Our pure strength programs are all designed for the female lifter.
Classes are all maxed at 4. All three classes will be taught by personal
trainer, Dana Graham. We ask that participants do not register for these
classes more than twice in a row, this will allow for new participants to
experience the dynamics of PS. We must stress; however, these classes

Want to rev up your metabolic rate and further define your physique?
This rudimentary resistance training class teaches the basics of free
weight training to women. Participants will obtain working knowledge of
routines and confidence to begin safely incorporating resistance training
into their own fitness regimes. There is no cardio component to this

training, then learn the essentials of a proper diet for a new you!
PS3 is the final class in the "Pure Strength" series that encompasses both aggressive resistance training
and proper nutrition. This exciting partnership between the Lancaster YMCA and Fairfield Medical Center
is designed for women only who have completed the PS1,and 2 classes and have a desire to build lean
muscle mass, while optimizing health and well being.
Participants will receive two sessions of individual nutrition counseling with Corinn Fullenkamp, MS, RD,
LD, to help enhance athletic training, recover from workouts and improve performance. The nutritional
counseling will include personalized nutrition plans that are developed based on your individual goals.
From a training perspective, ISMA certified personal trainer, Dana Graham, will acquaint participants with
advanced strength strategies with the goal of training one’s self.
Body fat assessments will be conducted at the beginning and end of class to evaluate individual
goals against progress. An introduction to Kettle Bell moves will also be conducted.

The Silver Sneakers program is appropriate for older adults who are active as well as
those who are sedentary, intimidated, unfamiliar with exercise, post rehabilitation
programs and ALL those who enjoy a positive upbeat social environment.
The Silver Sneaker MSROM (Muscular Strength & Range of Motion) class allows you to have
fun with music through a variety of exercises designed to develop muscular strength,
range of movement and activity for daily living. Hand weights, elastic tubing with handles,
and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated or standing support.

Traditional cycle classes
are all 45 minutes in length and follow the same format as far as hills, sprints or flat surface. There are
10 slots available in each class. When you register for a class, such as M/W/F at 6:00 AM, this reserves
your bike for the entire session. There is no "guessing" as to whether there will be a bike available.
In
an attempt to be flexible with riders, we have incorporated the "floater" system. If you register for a
class, such as, M/W/F 6:00 AM and find that Friday is a problem, you may "float" into another class, but
only if there is an open bike. This is not a guarantee. We must stress that there is NO PAY AS YOU GO or
DROP IN ACCESS in this program. You must be registered to either ride or float into a class. Members are
always given first opportunity for bikes; however, remember
non-members may reserve bikes during non-member registration.

best time to let the Gravity System pull things together for you. Gravity encourages
functional exercise using an individual’s body weight as resistance. The
gravity system uses a cable and pulley system, a free motion glide board and
is adjustable to nine different levels of resistance. It engages all major muscle
groups.
For those of you ready for a little more gravity, we implemented Gravity Plus. With
Gravity Plus, you will receive six additional exercises. These classes will run 45
minutes in length. Price has been adjusted accordingly.
All classes max at 4 and classes with less than 2 will not run.

Circuit Classes alternate cardiovascular with strength training. It is a great way to get your cardio and
strength all wrapped up in one class.
This class is designed for women who may not be comfortable in a large class or Wellness Center
setting. This class will incorporate circuit training using both machines and low cardiovascular exercises.
Latin dance moves are performed in between muscle work. Fun Music - Great Time!

Power Up your pool workout with Water Pump. Participants will be working on
patterns in both shallow and deep water implementing the strength and power of

A class appropriate for ages 7 and up. Conducted either in the Fulton Gym
or Wellness Center, exercise protocol is followed with a warm-up, stretching,
