Creative Play Preschool

Creative Play Preschool

Creative Play is a state-licensed preschool operating from September through May. Our preschool provides social and academic skills for children ages 3, 4 & 5. Creative Play Preschool has a wide variety of activities such as story time, music, language development, activity time, creative movement, outdoor play, art, and social interaction. These activities help to prepare your child both socially and academically for Kindergarten.

All children attend a physical education class held once a week and Pre-Kindergarten also includes a weekly swim lesson.

Before and After School Childcare

Before and After School Childcare

Licensed care for boys and girls grades K-6 and located at the Y. Your child can participate in before and after school activities such as swimming, crafts, homework, indoor/outdoor recreation and much more. YMCA School Age Childcare provides a safe, structured atmosphere for those hours before and after school.

Care is provided from 6:00 AM to the start of the school day, and from school dismissal until 6:30 PM. Transportation provided by the Family Y and Lancaster City Schools. Lancaster City Schools and private schools are served.

Kindergarten Age Childcare

This state licensed kindergarten-age program allows parents to work full-time knowing that their child is involved in fun, safe activities. Your child may attend Lancaster City Schools Kindergarten and spend the other half of the day in our Kindergarten Age Childcare Program.

Participants can be dropped off at the Y as early as 6:00 AM and picked up as late as 6:30 PM. Activities include swimming, gym class, games, field trips, music, art and indoor/outdoor recreation. While the program has a strong recreational component, educational issues are addressed. Teachers work on science projects, calendar skills, and academic skills as well as personal goals developed with parental input. Transportation provided by the Family Y.

Summer Day Camp 2008

 

Camp Discovery at the Family Y is a ten-week camp that runs Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM (A limited number of extended care hours are available 6:00AM – 6:30 PM).


Opening day is June 9th with camp closing on August 15th, serving children who are entering Kindergarten through those who are entering the 6th grade, Camp Discovery offers fun, age appropriate activities.


The camp counselors strive to incorporate the YMCA core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility into every activity. Campers are grouped by age and a minimum ratio of one counselor for every ten campers is maintained.


Morning activities take place at Maher Park which offers tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, a fishing pond, hiking trails, a shelter house and a playground. Lunch is provided for our campers and any child under the age of 18 in the community through the Summer Food Service Program.


In the afternoon, all of the campers swim. In addition to the in-camp activities, there is a weekly field trip, which is included in the weekly cost of camp.


Camp Discovery is a state-registered day camp that accepts Title XX funds from the Department of Job and Family Services. Limited scholarships are also available through the Y and United Way support.

Location: This summer, campers will enjoy all the amenities Maher Park has to offer. Maher Park is accessible from 33 south to the Broad Street Exit or Tallmadge Avenue to Lewis Avenue.

Camp Shining Sun (Day Camp)

Camp Raindbow (Weekend Resident)

Camp Shining Sun/Camp Rainbow has welcomed children and adults with special needs since 1967. The Fairfield Council for the Retarded, Inc. developed the facility and operated the camp through the summer of 1998.

In April of 1999, the Robert K. Fox Family YMCA became the proud operator of this wonderful program! Camp Shining Sun/Rainbow is sponsored by the United Way of Fairfield County and is offered free of charge to Fairfield County resident's ages 5 and older with an IEP/ISP.

To receive transportation to Camp Shining Sun camper must register by May 23, 2008.
